What’s New In Sage ERP X3 Version 7? An Early Adopter’s Perspective

This week Sage is hosting members from the Sage ERP X3 community during its annual Sage ERP X3 Global Conference in Lisbon, Portugal. The biggest deal by far during the conference is that it marks the first time that many partners will be seeing Sage ERP X3 Version 7. Many, but not all.
During last year’s conference, The Answer Company was asked to join the Early Adoption Program, where partners were picked to implement the solution. The program’s objective being to test and ensure the quality of the new release in terms of product, services, and support. As a leader in adding users to the Sage ERP X3 user base in North America, The Answer Company was chosen to be a part of the program.

So, with all the secrecy & build up – what’s new in Sage ERP X3 Version 7?

Sage ERP X3 Version 7: Improvements in User Interface

The major development in V7 is definitely the improvements made to the user interface. The new user interface gives a modern look and feel to the solution that we already know and love and it’s more than just a fresh coat of paint – usability has been greatly improved.

Based on the feedback received from earlier versions, the technology layer of the user interface portion of Sage ERP X3 has been rebuilt. The focus was on ‘friendliness’ of use, while delivering a solution users will be excited to use. For example, the view of the information and company data is extremely customizable to fit the user’s tastes and needs. It can be organized through tabs or streams, so that users can play with the view to get the data they need.

Browser Independence – Version 7 does away with limited access!

Previous versions of X3 were only compatible with Internet Explorer, but that is no longer the case. The new version of the ERP solution was developed to be accessible through any browser, so users will be able to use their favorite one to access the solution.

This means that Sage ERP X3 V7 can run in companies with Apple or Windows standard machines, without the need of compatibility modes or plug-ins or logging in to remote servers. Every single screen and module of Sage ERP X3 has been made available to the proliferation of browsers available to users today.

Mobility – Sage ERP X3 Version 7 is Inherently Mobile

Since X3 is now browser agnostic, Sage ERP X3 Version 7 is inherently a mobile solution. Particular focus was put to ensure that tablets and smartphones have the capacity to access the system through those devices default browsers.

V7 fully enables tablets such as Google Android devices and Apple iPads to natively run every function, screen, report and transactions within the full Sage ERP X3 suite. This allows all users with access to the solution to run any function, be it field service, CRM, sales, financials, inventory management, and MRP from the convenience of their mobile device.

Powerful Technology Base

Although the behind-the-scenes structure of Sage ERP X3 has remained in large true to its strength, Version 7 of Sage ERP X3 has a more powerful technology base suitable for quicker and better development in the backend. It has a new supervisory control and evolved programming language aimed to give consultants implementing the solution more flexibility and efficiency when developing new functions within the system. Improvements were also made to the technology to decrease the likelihood of issues arising for companies that opt for add-ons for Sage ERP X3.

The improvements in the technology also stems from the new version’s compatibility with all browsers. With the system’s architecture improved to offer this to users, more can be done within X3 to add functionality without relying on external developments.

Other highlights of Sage ERP X3 Version 7

Sage ERP X3 V7 also offers better integration with Office suites, making it easier for companies from all industries that use existing processes and documents. It also offers improvements to managing projects within the system, like team document management capabilities.

We are excited about all the improvements brought forth by Version 7 of Sage ERP X3, in particular the changes made to the user interface. So many times in this industry we have seen people opt for solutions with the biggest bells and whistles, so it’s nice to see the look of Sage ERP X3 improve.

Once the pretty look and friendly user interface gets potential customers interested, they will be ecstatic with how much more Sage ERP X3 has to offer. In the end, we have found that Sage has dedicated significant resources to creation of this new technology while remaining true to the strengths of V6.
